What is RMLS?
The Regional Multiple Listing Service (RMLS™) is the Pacific Northwest’s largest Multiple Listing Service and one of the most established MLS organizations in the United States. Founded in August 1990 and launching its first live listings in May 1991, RMLS was created when representatives from four Portland-area Boards of REALTORS® came together to build a cooperative listing platform for the region. Within weeks of launch, 3,433 area REALTORS® had subscribed—75% of the possible membership—and RMLS never looked back.
Today, RMLS serves approximately 14,000 subscribers across more than 2,600 offices in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Its proprietary RMLSweb system—built and maintained by an in-house development team and continuously updated based on subscriber input and the RMLS Board of Directors—holds a database of over 2 million total listings and more than 2 million tax records, making it one of the most comprehensive listing repositories in the Pacific Northwest. RMLS is the primary MLS provider in 21 of Oregon’s 36 counties and five counties in Washington state, with supplementary services in five additional Oregon counties. Its monthly Market Action report is the most widely cited real estate market data publication in the Oregon and Southwest Washington region. RMLS maintains ten offices across Oregon and Southwest Washington to provide in-person support to subscribers across its entire geographic footprint.
