Tracking Codes

Xara Xtreme 5 and Web Designer allow you to add tracking codes to your website in order to collect data on your site visitors. Individual tracking codes can be inserted per page of your website, or the same tracking code can be applied to all your pages in your website. Simply insert the tracking code in the 'Tracker code' field from the Website tab of Web Properties, then each page in your site will be tracked. Alternatively, insert the code in the 'Tracker code' field from the page tab in order to track a particular page. There are many services providing site analytics including Google Analytics, Get Clicky, GoStats, Nedstats and OneStat. Some services are free, others provide restricted data for free accounts. Additionally some services require a graphic or link to be inserted in your web pages (one example is Get Clicky). Other services such as Google Analytics do not insert any links or graphics in to your web pages. Below, we give a step by step guide to inserting Google Analytics and Get Clicky.

Google Analytics

Sign in to your Google Analytics account or click here to create a new account.

Enter the URL of the site you wish to track, and assign a name as it should appear in your Google Analytics reports. Enter the time zone, country or territory and click continue. If you'd like to track more than one website, you can add more sites once your account has been set up.

For new account signup only: Enter your first name, phone number, country or territory and click continue.

Next, accept the user agreement - click on the check box at the bottom of the page to agree with the terms and conditions.

Next, Copy (Ctrl +C ) the new tracking code.

In Web Designer / Xtreme, open the Web Properties dialog via Utilities > Web Properties (or by clicking on the icon in the web toolbar or Shift+Ctrl+W) and then click on the Website tab. Then paste (Ctrl +V) the tracking code copied in step 5. Each page in your site will be tracked. Alternatively, insert the code in the 'Tracker code' field from the Page tab in order to track a particular page.

Click on OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.

Get Clicky

Below we give a step by step guide to inserting a Get Clicky Widget

Sign in to your Get Clicky account or click here to create a new account.

Add the URL of the website you wish to track.

Alter the preference settings if required, and click submit.

Next, click on the tracking code tab, Copy (Ctrl +C ) the new tracking code.

In Web Designer / Xtreme, open the Web Properties dialog via Utilities > Web Properties (or by clicking on the icon in the web toolbar or Shift+Ctrl+W) and then click on the Website tab. Then paste (Ctrl +V) the tracking code copied above. Each page in your site will be tracked.
