The latest release of Xara Xtreme Pro 3.2 now has full compatibility with the new Microsoft XPS format to provide users with even higher quality documents.
The Microsoft XML Paper Specification (XPS) provides users with a robust, open and trustworthy format for electronic paper. XPS documents print better, can be shared more easily and are more secure for archiving. The benefit of the XPS format is that it’s vector based, and so is a perfect companion for Xara Xtreme Pro - the highest performance vector graphics application. Being vector based makes XPS an ideal resolution-independent portable document format. Fonts are embedded into the document and so users are assured of a very high quality WYSIWYG document. Users of Windows Vista can view and print these documents directly. A free XPS Viewer download is available from the Microsoft web site to provide viewing and printing of these files when using older versions of Windows.
Xara Xtreme Pro writes XPS files directly rather than using the Microsoft standard XPS print system so users are ensured of a far higher fidelity, and far smaller XPS files. The Xara Xtreme Pro XPS supports advanced features such as vector transparency including its unique graduated transparency, CMYK colors and embedded fonts. Xara Xtreme Pro has multi-page support and is able to create multi-page, DTP style documents so it's the perfect companion for producing high-quality XPS documents.
Charles Moir, Managing Director of Xara Group Ltd said "XPS hasn't got the attention it deserves. It's a great new portable document format of very high quality, with a free viewer available for Windows XP. If you want to create documents to give to others, and need to ensure they see exactly the document you intended to publish, with the same fonts and graphics, in quality enough to zoom and print hi-fidelity copies, then I fully recommend the new XPS format'.
